Questions

Icebreaker: When you hear the word evangelism, what is your first reaction — excitement, pressure, curiosity, nervousness, something else? Why do you think you feel that way?

  1. Paul calls us “Christ’s ambassadors” — people God has entrusted with the message of reconciliation. What does it mean to you that God chooses to make His appeal to people through ordinary people like us? 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 — “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”

  2. The message said, “Talk to God about people before you talk to people about God.” Who are 3–5 people in your life that you could begin praying for regularly? What would it look like to pray for them without putting pressure on yourself to make something happen?

  3. You have people in your life that pastors and church leaders may never meet. Who is in your sphere of influence right now? What opportunities do you have to love, listen to, encourage, or share Jesus with people you naturally encounter?

  4. Our daily mission is simple: Receive the love of God and give it away. What could that look like in an ordinary day for you — at work, at home, at school, at the gym, or running errands?

  5. The message talked about our stories having three parts: Before → Encounter → After. If you had one minute to tell someone how Jesus has changed your life, what would you want them to know?
John 9:25 — “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”

  6. Sometimes we feel like we need to have the perfect words or the perfect testimony before we can share Jesus. How would it change things for you to see your testimony as something you can practice rather than something you have to get perfect?

  7. The message said, “Successful sharing is taking the initiative in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.” How does that take pressure off? What would it look like for you to focus more on being faithful than on how someone responds?

  8. Start with prayer. Prepare your story. Live interested. Love well. Share Jesus. Which of these feels like your next step? What is one specific thing you can do this week to take it?
