Questions
  1. Matt opened with the story of the elephant: something that looked powerful and beautiful but was never meant to hold our hope. What stood out to you about that story? Where do you see “elephants” like that in the world around us?

  2. In Luke 12:13–15, a man calls Jesus “Teacher” and asks Him to settle a family money dispute. Jesus answers, “Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” Matt pointed out that Jesus tells us to watch out for greed because it usually creeps in without our noticing. What do you think makes greed so hard to recognize in ourselves, and what helps us see it?

  3. Matt shared that money represents security for him. He admitted he caught himself checking the stock app twice while preparing this message. What does money represent in your life, and how have you seen that shape the way you live?

  4. In Luke 12:16–21, the rich man builds bigger barns, and God calls him a fool for storing up wealth “but not having a rich relationship with God.” Matt noted that having wealth isn’t the problem. What do you think it looks like in everyday life to be rich toward God?

  5. Matt described some signs that we’re living like owners instead of stewards: buying things we don’t need, discontentment, fear of not having enough, and “When I have a little more, then I’ll give.” As you heard him describe these, what resonated with you, and why?

  6. In Luke 12:22–32, Jesus points to the ravens and the lilies and says, “Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.” Matt called worry “the sin no one wants to talk about.” What would change in how you think about money and the future if you fully trusted God as a good Father who delights in providing for you?

  7. In the video, Matt and Loretta told about a time the Holy Spirit nudged them to give far more than they’d planned, and the peace that followed. Share about a time you sensed a nudge to be generous, or a time someone’s generosity met a need in your life. What did that experience teach you?

  8. Luke 12:34 says, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matt said money isn’t the idol, it reveals our idols, because money flows most easily toward what we treasure most. Without sharing specifics, what is God showing you about where your heart is?
