"I lost my apartment, my car, my girlfriend. I entered into the deepest depression I've ever been in.
I was approaching my 30th birthday and I was like, 'I'm miserable drunk. I'm miserable sober. So I might as well kill myself.
Because I've failed at being a father. I failed at being a member of the armed forces. I've failed at being a son, a brother, a friend.' I just wanted it to end.
It was my 30th birthday and I had plans to kill myself."
