To celebrate Mother's Day, each day this week we're highlighting a mom or grandma who serves in Vineyard Kids. We interviewed just a few of these amazing women to get to know them better.

Meet Elaine Su.

Elaine is married to Henry. They have two boys, Ian (10 years) and Noah (7 years), and have attended the Vineyard for 2 years. Elaine serves as a Lead Storyteller and a Small Group Leader in grades 2-4.

What do you love about being a Mom?

I love hearing my boys' giggles, their big bear hugs, and the excitement in their eyes when they have created something awesome and want to share it with me. Most importantly, I love that we all experience life together.

I share my life lessons to help my boys grow, but they always keep me on my toes, and I also grow because of them.

What do you love about serving in Vineyard Kids?

I am grateful to share the gospel with such young minds. As a storyteller, I love that I can share God’s great love through interactive stories and worship.

As a small group leader, I cherish moments when the kids and I reflect on the lessons, share testimonies, and pray for each other. It is a joy to get to know each child.

What do you do as a family to pray or study the Bible together?

Before my kids head off to school, we pray together praising God for our blessings. We ask for guidance and wisdom throughout our days. We close our day with family prayer before bedtime.

We incorporate readings from a mixture of resources such as devotionals or biblical-based books that instill God’s Word in our hearts.

What kind of prayer do you pray the most often for your children?

I pray that my boys will come to know, love, and trust in God and understand Jesus’ love [for them] through sacrifice. I pray they will lead lives with open hearts to the Holy Spirit and seek God when they may face darkness.

I pray that God uses me and my husband, and equip us with love and wisdom, to raise our boys to possess Christ-like character.

If you could share with a new mom one piece of advice, what would that be?

You will find times of joy when life seems picture-perfect, and there will be times of challenge where you feel like the worst parent in the world. Know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Cherish the moments that bring you joy; give praise to God.

Seek fellowship during times of struggle. Lift your prayers to God. He listens. Have patience. Love hard. Say sorry. Remember you have little ones that see past your flaws and a Father who does NOT give up on you. Your children AND God love you unconditionally, and you are beautiful in their eyes.
