The Healing Center is for you, too.

Tommy Clifton | July 11, 2018

When I’m at the church on the weekends, people often ask me about the ways that the Healing Center helps people. Usually they’re asking for someone’s friend or relative. In every one of those conversations, I hear them say, “I need to go to that too!” I always reply, “That’s right, and the Healing Center is for you, too.”

People often think that the Healing Center is a place that only provides food and clothes to people who are struggling to get by. However, our team works with hundreds of volunteers to deliver more than fifty services to all people. We offer spiritual care, education services, coaching, resource advising and more to anyone who needs help.

Take Wendy, for example, who along with her husband John attended the Healthy Transformations class at the Healing Center. Together they took on the challenge of running for the first time in their lives.

They completed their first 5K race in March 2018. They have made huge strides in the area of self-discipline and have a newfound appreciation for running.

“I learned to see and envision my future story as one that could bring far more happiness if I was healthy and fit,” Wendy says. “I always struggled with following through, but thanks to this Healing Center class and running group, I realize that I can set goals and actually reach them.”

It’s such an amazing blessing to be able to meet some of people's immediate needs, but the areas where I get to see people like Wendy grow and achieve their future story really makes me excited about coming to work every day.

How do we help you determine your future story? We start by asking people just like you these three questions:

  • Where are you?
  • Where do you want to go?
  • What do you need to do to get there?

At the Healing Center, we walk alongside you as you work to reach the future story that you’ve determined. Sometimes this means taking a computer class so you can pay bills online, or learn to use the Internet for Skype, or get better word processing skills to be more marketable in the workplace.

Other times it’s overcoming past financial struggles through our financial class or coaching. Or it may be overcoming workplace hurdles in our Job and Career Support Program.

These are only a few of the great ways that you can grow at the Healing Center. Find out more about the great programs and services available at healingcentercincinnati.org.
